STAAR Alert Committed to Responsible Recycling

The EPA estimates that 75 percent of the American waste stream is recyclable, but only about 30 percent is recycled (via dosomething.org). That’s why STAAR Alert is doing our part by responsibly disposing of old equipment.

Once equipment, including mobile medical alerts and medication dispensers, has reached the end of its lifecycle, it is collected from the user’s home. We collect and replace equipment as needed at no charge, regardless of the circumstance. Whether service is no longer needed, the equipment ceases to work correctly or it is damaged due to misuse, a trained technician will help make a smooth transition.

As equipment is collected at our office, it is cleaned and serviced by our knowledgeable team. If it is no longer operational, the device is marked for recycling. Once a sizable load is collected, STAAR Alert partners with a professional removal service that properly recycles the electronics and batteries in accordance with all local, state and federal laws.

We at STAAR Alert take this commitment to the environment very seriously. Just last month, 101 pounds of equipment was responsibly recycled!

It is important for e-waste to be recycled properly to ensure the environment is not exposed to hazardous chemicals. According to Green Citizen, e-waste produces toxic components including mercury, lead, cadmium, polybrominated flame retardants, barium and lithium.

In order to continue our dedication to helping the environment, we hope that you will contact us to learn more about our equipment and responsible practices. Call us today at 800-338-7114.
